PTPbot User Guide
Everything you need to generate compliant lighting proposals, review results, and manage your project history.
1 — What It Does

PTPbot is an AI-powered lighting proposal engine for professional lighting consultants. It takes a space's dimensions, usage type, and compliance requirements, then automatically selects fixtures from the product repository, calculates lux levels, checks against Singapore Green Mark and SS531 standards, and generates a formatted proposal ready for client review and approval — all in under a minute.

2 — Roles & Permissions
Role What They Can Do
Director Full access — generate proposals, approve them, override compliance warnings, view all staff history, and manage the product repository.
Junior Staff Can generate proposals and use the Lux Calculator. Cannot approve proposals or override warnings. Sees only their own proposal history.
Estimator Read-only access to the product repository and Lux Calculator for cost estimation. Cannot generate or approve proposals.
Admin Manages the product repository and views all proposal history across the organisation. Cannot generate new proposals.
3 — How to Generate a Proposal

    Upload floor plan — drag and drop a PDF or image of the floor plan into the upload zone, or click "Load Demo" to use a sample.
  2. 2
    Fill the space profile — enter the project name, select space type (office, retail, etc.), and input floor area in m².
  3. 3
    Set lighting requirements — choose your target lux level and select the applicable compliance standard (Green Mark, SS531, or none).
  4. 4
    Select fixture types — toggle the fixture type tags (Recessed, Surface, Track, Pendant, Downlight) to tell the AI which categories to draw from.
  5. 5
    Set budget & notes — enter the project budget in SGD and add any special instructions or client requirements in the notes field.
  6. 6
    Click Generate — the AI analyses the floor plan and inputs, then returns a full proposal in the results panel on the right.
4 — Reading the Results
Compliance Badges
Coloured badges at the top of the results show whether the proposal meets each standard. Green means pass, amber means marginal (within 5%), red means fail. Directors can click a red badge to override the warning with a logged note.
Fixture Placement Plan
A grid overlay on the floor plan thumbnail shows the AI's suggested fixture positions. Each zone is labelled with fixture count and calculated lux value. Hover a zone to see the breakdown.
Substitutions Panel
If a primary fixture is out of stock or over budget, the AI automatically suggests a substitute from the repository. The panel shows primary vs. substitute side-by-side with cost and lux impact so you can accept or reject each one individually.
Approve Button
Once you're satisfied with the proposal, click Approve Proposal to lock it and save it to the Proposals history. Only Directors can approve. Approved proposals cannot be edited but can be viewed and exported.
5 — Lux Calculator

The Lux Calculator tab lets you quickly verify fixture counts without generating a full proposal. Enter the room dimensions (length × width in metres), ceiling height, target lux level, and the lumens per fixture for the product you're considering. The calculator applies a default maintenance factor of 0.8 and returns the number of fixtures required and the spacing grid. Adjust the maintenance factor manually for high-dust or difficult-access environments.

Results update live as you type — no need to click a button. Use this tab during client calls or site visits for instant sanity checks.

6 — Tips for Best Results
  • ▸Upload a clean, high-contrast floor plan. Cluttered or low-resolution PDFs reduce the AI's ability to accurately detect room boundaries and zone areas.
  • ▸Be specific in the notes field. Mentioning details like "high-glare restriction for screen-facing desks" or "client prefers warm-white 2700K" meaningfully improves fixture selection.
  • ▸Keep the product repository up to date. The AI can only select from fixtures that are marked as active and in-stock in the repository — stale or incomplete entries lead to suboptimal substitutions.
  • ▸Use the Lux Calculator first for large or irregular spaces. Running a quick manual check before generating lets you catch unrealistic lux targets early and saves a round-trip to the AI.
